Linville Falls

I am going to Linville Falls; A few of you are welcome to join me.

Total Distance: 3 mi
Plunge Basin: (minus)200 ft elev rocky descent in ½ mile; 1.6 mi RT
Rim route: 100 ft gradual elev change; 1.6mi RT
Drive time: 61 mi/1.25 hrs via I-40/70/221
Return Drive time: 2 hrs/ 78 mi via BRPkwy
Linville Falls is the most popular waterfall in the Blue Ridge Mountains because of its accessibility to the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is a spectacular three-tiered waterfall plunging into Linville Gorge, the “Grand Canyon of the Southern Appalachians.”
Linville Falls: 150ft in 3 sections
We will hike to the Plunge section first and then finish walking the rim views (5 overlooks).
Difficulty: This event is NOT for beginners or those with health or balance issues.
This is a dog-participant hike. This event is NOT for those who are uncomfortable with the antics of fun-loving dogs. Dogs are welcome (IF their masters are well trained). Well trained dogs will be ‘On leash’ during this event.
Incessant prattlers will be assumed to be having an affair. Please respect the serenity of the other hikers by keeping conversation quiet and at a minimum.
Please bring an extra pair of shoes to avoid bringing your muddy shoes into the driver’s car at the end of the hike. .
Your carpool contribution will be $5
Apprx return time: 4 pm
All hikes are at your own risk. You are responsible for your OWN safety and adequate equipment.
