Generation Plus: Staying Upbeat in a Virtual World

Generation Plus: Staying Upbeat in a Virtual World
Today Generation Plus LIVE held our monthly segment which focused on staying upbeat in a virtual world. Recognizing the struggles all have endured this year and realizing the isolation for many during the holiday season we hope to bring some ideas, suggestions and support to the community. If you have other suggestions, then please let us know. We are all in this together. Joining us today were Jessica Whitehill, Executive Director for Jewish Family Services. The organization offers a variety of programs including counseling, a food pantry and holiday meal service delivery. All are welcome! For more information visit www.jfswnc.org. Stephanie Stewart, Aging Program Specialist with United Way shared some advice and the very interesting idea of laughter yoga. Stephanie reminded us that there are still many volunteer opportunities even during this period of Covid. To learn more visit https://www.unitedwayabc.org. To learn more about laughter yoga visit laughteryoga.org. Also joining us was Daniel Mendez, Elder Justice Navigator at the Council on Aging of Buncombe County. Daniel is new to the area but has a wealth of information. To reach out to her please go to https://www.coabc.org/programs/elder-justice/. There are still many opportunities for volunteers, and they are Covid safe. AARP is happy to provide more information (https://www.aarp.org/giving-back/) or become a volunteer for Blue Ridge Pride (blueridgepride.org)

Siljoy Maurer

Holistic Perspectives P.O. Box 333, Enka, NC 2872  Phone: (828) 333-0103  | [email protected] or  www.HolisticPerspectives.com For many years now I have been mentoring men and women from all walks of life. It continues to be my greatest joy to accompany someone from “just being ok” into thriving! As a Mentor & Healer I partner with my clients in creating authenticity, wellness and deep contentment, in whatever area of their lives they are seeking change. The combination of giving very practical, livable tools for direct “next steps” while “holding the big picture” and then manifesting that big picture often feels like this: a new client brings me their life or life situation in a jigsaw puzzle box, they lost the lid and forgot what the picture on it looked like. I am good at knowing that picture and then guiding my clients/mentees to put all the puzzle pieces together.
