Education and Outreach Coordinator

The Education and Outreach Coordinator position is a vital part of Blue Ridge Pride’s core team, providing critical input and resources for the LGBTQIA+ community and allies. This is a public-facing role which at times operates in a fast-paced environment. FT salaried Monday-Friday hybrid office in North Asheville (2 days a week) and remote (3 days) and some weekend events. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Job Responsibilities:
● Coordinate and implement our education efforts, including delivering and continuing to develop our Welcoming Spaces trainings for businesses, nonprofits and community groups.
● Oversee our Generation Plus program, including Connections socials, Thrive educational seminars, volunteer coordination and grant reporting.
● Events volunteer coordination (manage sign-ups, assign roles, provide training)
● Oversee festival volunteers day-of
● Assist Executive Director with outreach to organizations, community groups and businesses
● Event/Outreach Support (Tabling, Swag Inventory, etc.)
● Pride Portal support (entering and coordinating online resources and calendar)
● Support Marketing team with social media for events
● Assist Advocacy team with Get Out the Vote activities, as needed
● Phone support (answer mainline and general email on assigned days)
● Assistance with other responsibilities, as needed
Qualifications:
Required:
Active NC Driver’s License
Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience in training/teaching, or an equivalent of education and experience (for example, Associates and 5 years experience)
2 years of experience in community outreach
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (for event equipment)
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Ability to communicate effectively and kindly with a diverse population
Preferred:
3+ years of nonprofit program leadership
1+ year of experience in designing and/or implementing DEI trainings/programs
