Festival Operations Coordinator (part-time, seasonal)

The Festival Operations Coordinator provides our annual Blue Ridge Pride Festival with the necessary skills to ensure a smooth flow-of-operations behind the scenes. This role is seasonal, and will begin mid-summer and end September 30th. As a critical role for our biggest program, this job is not eligible for contracting. Hours will begin at 2-5 a week and increase as festival time approaches to 10-20. Festival week will include overtime at 1.5 rate over 44 hours.

Job Responsibilities:

● Participate in Festival Planning Committee meetings, including all relevant subcommittees

● Oversee site mapping with input from the Executive Director, including creating site map and site map graphics, and implementation of map during set-up (Friday Sept 20th and Sat Sept 21st)

● Oversee all volunteer activities for those involved in operations the weekend of the festival (set-up, mapping, water, electric, etc.)

● Timely communication with the City of Asheville and any contractors on operational matters, including participating in the final walk-through

● Assist Festival Committee, Safe Spaces Event Staffing, and Blue Ridge Pride staff as needed with any operational matters related to the Festival or the events during Pride week leading up to the Festival, including inventory management

● Work with Vendor Load-In and temp labor set-up contractors to ensure timely set-up of all items (vendors, waste management, sound, compost, water, etc.)

● Assistance with other related responsibilities, as assigned

Qualifications:

Required:

Active NC Driver’s License

At least 3 years of experience in large festival/event operations

Proficiency with PPT and Canva (for site mapping)

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (for event equipment)

Ability to keep calm and multitask in a fast-paced environment

Ability to communicate effectively and kindly with a diverse population

Preferred:

5+ years of large event operations

2+ year of experience in leading large-scale event operations

Experience working in nonprofits

Experience with Photoshop

Overtime hours for the weekend of the festival are required

Pay: $22.10 - $25.00 per hour

Advocacy Intern (part-time, seasonal)

Job responsibilities include:

  • Voter registration at events

  • Train others in how to register voters

  • Research priority advocacy issues for LGBTQIA+ community

  • Draft communications on policy priorities

  • Host periodic postcarding/phone banking opportunities

  • Event/Outreach Support

  • Phone and Email Support during assigned work hours

  • Other duties, as related and assigned

Experience and training in voter registration is required.

Experience in nonprofits and with Canva and social media preferred.

This job is intended for university/college students studying the following that includes, but not limited to: Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy or Public Administration. This internship will help to give the student the professional experience needed to excel post-graduation.

Bookkeeper (Part-Time)

The Bookkeeper reports to the Executive Director and Board Treasurer. Their work hours will occur primarily out of the office 1-2 hours per work, though accomodations can be made for in-office time if needed. This job is able to be contracted if desired. Job responsibilities include:

  • Enter annual budget into Quickbooks

  • Classify expenditures and income weekly in QB accordingly

  • Prepare Statement of Financial Position monthly

  • Prepare all financial statements bi-monthly in advance of board meetings

  • Run trend and projection reports monthly

  • Ensure all documentation for expenditures and income is recorded properly

  • Advise on, and maintain fidelity to organization Financial Policies

  • Other duties, as related and assigned

2+ years of nonprofit bookkeeping required.
